Hi,

i'm planning to buy a water pressure gauge, either Teleflex or Faria. These are sold as a "kit", does this include everything? Sender, wiring etc? Like this one here e.g. Nothing is found under "accessories". I need some help here, i don't know what's needed except for the gauge itself. I have a Yamaha HPDI 200hp -01.

/Mattias

Re: Water pressure gauge

I bought a Teleflex. Included in the kit were instructions, fittings for most applications, and tubing. The wire wasn't included. The only wiring on the gauge was for back lighting and I wired it to the lighting wires behind the dash.

Thank you Rick,
I assume Faria has that included in their "kit", it wouldn't be a kit else.. :)

Re: Water pressure gauge

I bought a Teleflex for a Yamaha and I also had to purchase an adapter for the connection to the engine, can't comment on the Faria.

Any adapters (brass pipe nipples, tees, barbed fittings, couplings etc.,) are available at any home center or hardware store. Use bushings to upsize or downsize connections to the engine.

you are going to need a hole saw to drill the hole in the dash, can get at any hardware store.

Re: Water pressure gauge

Here is how I did mine on a 75 HP Merc. The large line is the tell-tale. The black plastic fitting was originally screwed into the engine. A short brass nipple replaced that fitting. The brass "T" screwed onto the nipple, and the original elbow and another brass elbow completed the plumbing. The small tube runs to the gauge. I think everything was included with the gague except for the brass elbow and maybe the nipple. With a new impeller the gauge reads 7 PSI @ idle and 17 PSI @ WOT).

Re: Water pressure gauge

Thank you Upinsmoke for the pic, do you ever experience pressure drops when trim up your engine?

Re: Water pressure gauge

As for loss of water pressure when trimmed -- I don't have that problem. My boat has Smart Tabs so the engine can do its job of pushing the boat without being trimmed up a great deal.
