I am down to the water pressure gauge and and few loose ends till my mercury is successfully installed on my hydra sports bass boat. The boat came with a Evinrude and had a water pressure gauge. Luckily, unlike the rest of the wires/tubes, the original owner of the boat left the water pressure tube intact and its hanging out the back of the boat. I have been trying to come up with the correct fitting and location to install the tap for the gauge. I have found several "kits" , but dont know if the actual port in the block changed size over the years or not. Does anyone have a part number or at least a size of the fitting I need? (IE..1/2" NPT to 1/8" tube) Im actually not even sure on the pitot tube size. Im guessing its all mostly the same size as it looks identical to the tube that runs to my mercury speedometer port on the lower unit.

thanks
matt

There should be a "pipe plug" right on top of tha block, right behind tha flywheel. Thats where you need to adapt down to tha right size for your water pressure guage. It doesn't go in tha discharge...........

Most auto parts stores and some hardwares should have the fittings to adopt it down to the hose size that is on the boat. A 90 degree elbow fitting with 1/8 " male threads and a ribed slipon nipple along with a reducer if needed should get the job done. A good tyewrap should hold the hose on as there is not usually more than 15 # of presure on the system. JMO
