Re: water problem

1-idle set too low?
2-constricted cooling passages?
3-incorrectly installed impeller and/or grommets?

It's gotta be one of the three?

Re: water problem

if you pinched the gromet on the water tube, it will do that.

This. If it was old and long run it may have some gunk in it but since it's new - you have a slight issue with water delivery somewhere. It should squirt hard all the time.

Re: water problem

If there has been an impeller failure and pieces came off they could be blocking the waterways. Is the motor over heating? If not it could just be that the telltale is blocked.

Re: water problem

My stepdad has a mercury 25 hp, and it did the same thing. At idle very little water, rev it up pumped like a champ. He was certain it was not the waterpump b/c it was only 4 months old, but I convinced him to spend the 25 bucks and get a new impeller and sure enough after that it pumped like a champ . I am betting on an impeller problem.
