On my 95 faststrike 175hp. I have a psi gauge that goes from 0-30. It is pegged out passed 30 now. The gauge worked fine last yr. I have no idea whats happened to my boat over the winter. Anyway where do I start on this. I looked under dash and it has 2wires (assume lights)and a rubber hose which I assume runs to the motor. Any help would b great. Thanks Chris

Some of those motors put out more than 30 PSI. That's why OMC went to the 40 PSI gauge. Did you just recently install a new water pump ??

I would remove the tubing from the gauge check for any obstruction that might have worked its way up there causing a bad reading. Then id leave that line removed from the gauge and start the engine let water pass through the line to ensure there is nothing. I dont know what type of water you run in but for me salt gets into everything. And when salt sits its makes a mess. In assuming lake brine would also create some issues.

Re: Water PSI gauge problems.

Likely some water got into the bladder of the pressure guage over the winter and froze. Once it freezes inside the gauge, the internal bladder/linkage is forever damaged. While it may register pressure, it won't read correctly-the arm inside is bent, misaligning the needle on the gauge face. Replace the gauge. Normally the gauge works off air pressure. If the hose line to the gauge ever leaks pressure a the gauge, water can flow all the way up to the gauge and even get inside it. So, either pull the line each fall and clear it of water, or put a clamp on the hose on the gauge so it won't leak air/water over the summer.

Don't feel bad. I have exactly the same issue with my pressure gauge. it must have froze over the winter. At least I got a few years out of it.

We'll crap. That's probably the problem. I use it in the winter to fish also. So I bet it is bad. I'm in New Mexico and although its stored inside it gets very cold. Thanks
