water pump alignment tool

Could anyone tell me how important it is to have and use the water pump alignment tool (91-821571A1) when changing the water pump on a Alpha 1 Gen II? thank you

They make the job a whole lot easier and you don't risk destroying your gaskets in the process. However, I wouldn't go buy the "special tool" just use some old drill bits or anything that will fit down in the bolt holes. All you need is two in the opposite corners of the housing.

Good advice ^^^^ also make sure the shat is centered in the hole ontop of the hsg after you tighten the bolts, if not loosen a little and tap it centered.

Get a couple of metric bolts cut the heads off. Instant special tool.
