Water pump housing and porosity.

Went to get a water pump rebuild kit including the aluminum housing and was very surprised by the amount of porosity on the side wall of the new housing. This was no small amount, but included a section about 1/4 of the entire pump wall. I passed on the perchance at this time thinking that this would have effect on water pressure, rate of flow, and impeller wear. Am I over thinking this and should accept this as the norm, or should I see if I cant find a better one from another parts source? FYI there are no after market housing for this engine. It's OMC or nothing. Thanks.

The lower plate, metal liner and impeller itself located inside the pump housing are the ones that makes the whole pumping work, so if having a porous external pump housing should not be an issue that lessens water pressure.

If still wories you, apply a resin coating on the exterior of the whole water pump housing...

You don't want one with walls missing or a whole lot of large pitts as it can contribute to impeller wear. PM Rustywrench here on site as he may have one or knows if one of the guys over on AOMC has one.
