Hi everyone. My water pump from Iboats should be here tomorrow.I have built the out drive stand (Thanks for the sticky Don:)).Going through my checklist I was wondering if I need any gasket sealer or perfect seal to apply to those gaskets when I put it back together?
If so is there an alternative I can use that I might have on hand already? I was told a light coat of oil might work.Good idea or not? Also can't find the drive shaft pin.Is it possible it didn't come out when I took the lower unit off and is still in the upper unit part of the shaft or did I lose it?
It's a alpha one and I'm using manual #6

Ayuh,... The Alpha 1 doesn't have the preload pin, only the Model 1s,+ the "R" drive lowers...

Thanks bondo I wasn't sure.Thought maybe it fell to the floor when I slide her out. How about sealing the gaskets?

Re: Water pump Install

and no sealer necessary. dry gaskets. use a in/lb torque wrench to tighten the water pump housing bolts to spec. they don't require very much torque....

Re: Water pump Install

If anything a light coat of grease on the gaskets will make them easier to remove next time, but not necessary. 'nutcase
