ok, after getting help in this thread:

http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=294778

I got the engine cranked last night. It had a bad starter and rectifier on it. thank god I have the manual too as I had a misplaced wire I would have never known where to put back without the wiring diagrams.

anyway, when it first fired off and ran, the water pump was putting out its little stream of water.

once I got it to where it would idle...no output of water so I shut it down.

I have a new water pump kit as well as thermostat kit I'm going to put on it next week (leave town later tonight for business until next weekend)...

anyway, what would be ANY possible causes for this so when I have everything apart I can make sure I clean every nook and cranny and cover all my bases so I dont have to tear it down more than once??

my roommate put the water muffs on the engine last night while I was in the boat doing some wiring stuff and he said he did brush some dirt/cobwebs off the foot area so I'm wondering if some trash got stuck somewhere?? or would the water pump be strong enough to force whatever out of the pee hole??

also, it only ran for about 30 seconds at idle (mainly to help burn out all the crap in the engine since it was flooded partially haha).

anyway, wondering if this would have hurt the powerhead?? only thing I can think of is chewing up the impellor on the water pump which I dont care about since its getting replaced....but wanna make sure.

Don't think what clogged it but the first place to check is the telltale and it's plumbing.

When you have it apart, you may want to put some compressed air in the tell tale hole to blow out and debris that may be in there.
