I need some help guys, and forgive my ignorance. I have a 97 Volvo Penta 5.7L GL. I noticed a small drip leak towards the front of the Engine compartment. Just a slow drip. It appears to me that it is coming from the water pump. I have attached a picture. It is not leaking from the 2 hoses(water pump/thermostat) coming into it. In the diagram, the leak is dripping directly underneath the bolt in the picture. I can't tell where it is coming from. Thanks in advance for any advise and how to fix this.

Mine is leaking in the same spot, did you have any response or did you fix the problem yourself?

it could be leaking in 2 other possible spot, the seal around the shaft or the gasket at the front where the impeller goes in. Check the front gasket and see if it is junk. If that looks not to be the issue it must be the seal around the shaft. Make sure your hose clamps are tight too!

Just rebuild the pump, I recomend rebuilding every 2 to three years for best performance. It could possibly be a gasket or o ring depending on which body you have. Is it dripping from the shaft bushing? you may have to remove the pully to make sure. A rebuild kit is available, but I would take the pump into a shop if it leaks from the shaft.(mine will be going in over the winter):D
