I have changed the impeller and reinstalled the lower section of the drive, twice.

There is no flow through the engine. Water is coming throught the lower half of the drive where it separates. Seams like the pump is pumping correctly but, not up through the water pick up tube.

I checked the shaft key. Impeller moves with shaft after reassembled.

If you look close you will see machined gap between gearcase and midsection. OMC wants water to exit this place. In addition it is supposed to have gone thru the motor, prior ot it's exit.

Have you removed the thermostats and see if water will come out the thermostat ports?

Forgive my ignorance. I have worked on several inboard engines and been succesful with water pumps. I have done a handful of impellers on
Merc./Yamaha outboards.

I am not familiar enough with the location of the devices on this Johnson. It is a serious job to even get to the bolt assembley to release the ****ing rod. I would like to meet the genious behind this crap!

What does the thermostsat look like?

thanks in advace

Each head should have a round cover with a hex head. Under those are the thermostats.
