Water pump question - 150XP

Is it possible for a new water pump to fail in the lake but work nicely with the MUFFS on?<br />Any ideas here?<br /><br />I just paid my tech to change both the housing and impeller and wouldn't PEE properly at the boat launch.<br />Shortly after, motor failed to run again properly.<br /><br />Thanks. The possibility does exist that when he re-installed the lower unit, he didn't get the water tube in the housing correctly...the problem is...it "may" have ruined your engine.<br />It's also possible the impellor was put on wrong and the shaft is spinning inside it..that may explain why it works on the muffs (pressure)and not in the lake(suction).
