I am about to rebuild my water pump and would like to know what else makes good sense to replace or rebuild along the way. I own a 2004 Sunesta 236 and the engine compartment looks more accessible than it really is.

I am already planning to replace the serpentine belt while I have the water pump bracket removed. Is there anything else I should consider replacing so I do not have to repeat some of the same work and contortions it takes for me to reach certain parts?

I considered the thermostat but it appears to be located more toward the top of the motor (if I have in fact located it). Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Impellor, impellor, impellor. If the pump does not make any noise, just change the seal and o ring. New impellor and a new belt and you should be good to go.

I am not certain that it doesn't make noise and the boat has about 540 hours so I am inclined to complete the full rebuild since I will be jammed and contorted into the engine compartment anyway (cursing, swearing, pulling muscles, etc). I really wish there were a way to open up the opening but the only solution for that is buy another boat and I love everything about this one.... except the engine compartment space. May as well get the greatest gain for my pain!
