Water Pump replacement - my first time - 1987 90HP

WOW ! A lot of OMC this and OMC that. I got the OMC kit, gasket sealer and an old service manual so I guess I'll be running to the shop to get the laundry list of stuff required.

This will be my first time so I have a couple questions:

1) Is there any other things I should check or replace while I am in there ?

2) Do I need to empty the gear oil out first ?
