water pump

recently purchased evinrude 6hp fisherman. run it in a tank should this motor be discharging water immediatelly or not I run it a good ten minutes and no disharge, but i can feel it puffing air out the orfice thanks meathead

What year, model, 2 or 4 stroke??<br />more than likely a new impeller is needed.

1973, model#6303s,2stroke. it does put some water out now but not a solid stream, but still a fair amount of water. i run it a little harder this time and may have got it up to temp. correct me if im wrong. thanks alot meathead

Hello Meathead! Do you have a manual for that outboard? If not it may be a good idea to pick one up as they are very self explanatory.It sounds like a new impeller to me, You'll find alot of handy info on previous posts too! Good luck!

Yep time for a new impeller. Those are simple little ole engines but the temp needs to be right on them for them to run right. Get you a new impeller they aren't that hard to change. Got one of those myself. Just about any johnnie rude dealer will stock those. or if you want to take the time go to your local napa parts store and order one.<br />BTW they don't blow a solid stream of water.

Don't forget to service, inspect, test or replace the t-stat while your at it.
