Re: water pump

Hi ya' got....

What do ya' need to know? Don't know what the price would be on your particular impeller but I have seen impellers for larger engines priced around $30+ dollars.

Labor varies from shop to shop. I would suppose anywhere from 45 to 55 dollars per hour? I'm just going from my area on this.

Bout' all I can tell ya' ecept if you need the impeller changed out because of overheat problems, you ain't got much choice unless you do the job yerself.

Re: water pump

Recently had the impeller and pump housing replacd on my 50 Merc for $240. Labor was $118 of that total. It included replacing the seals and greasing the prop shaft. Took about 1 1/2 hours of labor. It was part of the deal when I bought the boat.

Before I committed to replace the impeller, have you checked the thermostat? Something you can easily replace yourself. If you have a thermal tester you can check the temp on either side of themostat to see if it's opening.

Jerry

Re: water pump

$37+/- for the impeller, $3 for a gasket, 2 hours labor. You can do it yourself if you have a manual and some basic tools (wrenches).
