Can I replace my raw water pump on my 2000 sea ray with a 5.o without pulling it out of the water? 1 of the hoses looks way too stiff to clamp off.

I am assuming this is a Bravo?

That stiff hose is the raw water feed hose that goes from the transom to the sea-water pump on the lower right front of the engine.........

You'll just have to be quick pushing a cork in the hose when you pull it off the pump housing......but it's not all that hard. Once you get it plugged you can easily change the pump.

Use a large screwdriver or pry-bar to gently pry the hoses from the pump housing.........

Water shouldn't come in all that rapidly, it depends on how far below the water line the hose is when the boat is sitting in the water.

If you find the impeller in pieces, you probably should go looking for impeller fragments in the discharge line after the pump though. It should go to the power steering oil cooler, engine oil cooler (if installed) and t-stat housing. sometimes people discover impeller fragments in the housing crammed up against the t-stat.

Rick
