I have twin F9.9 engines and one is not pumping any water so I suspected either a blockage or impeller.

I have removed the lower leg and the impeller probably needs replacing but not that bad that it shouldnt pump anything so still suspect a blockage.

My question is if i put a water hose on the water intake pipe on the bottom of the upper leg should I see water from the pee hole because I am not and I tried to find the top of this pipe up near the powerhead to try and pump water back down the pipe but to no avail.

so should i see water run straight through with a water hose or is the thermostat stopping the water or am i right with the blockage and if so, how can i clear it

Thanks

If you are saying water is just not coming out of tell tail, then run a piece of weed wacker line up it while running motor or blow up it with compressed air to see if that will clear it

Well in that case you need to pull the stat and see if there is a lot of corrosion or salt build up in and around the passages. The stat will not stop water from coming out of the tell tail, but build up in passages will

Worry about that after you find that is the problem, but it may need to be opened up

Start it up and blow compressed air thur for a second and see if that clears it and then off to the next problem. if it doesnt work take the t-stat cover off and start it up and see if water comes out. If not you need a water pump. If water pours out then you have a blockage

I have replaced the impeller and removed thermostat and it seems to pump fine, put thermo back in and it just dribbles, checked thermo in water with thermometer and thermo working fine, water thats dribbling with thermo in is very hot to touch, without thermo water is quite cool. what next, i dont think i should run it without the thermo.

Decided to do a complete strip down removed head etc, the water jackets were clogged with sand and muck, cleaned them all out and water is flowing fine now, my other engine is pumping water but may strip down as well, I figure twin motors twin trouble.
