does anyone know the part number for a 1973 ford 302 5.0L water separating fuel filter? thanks for any help!

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Ford wasn't usin' water seperatin' filters, 'n still don't,....

Who marinized that Ford motor,..??

Merc,..??

OMC,..??

Volvo,..??

PCM,..??

Crusader,..??

i think its a merc, it has a merc outdrive. on the left front of the motor, it appears to have some type of filter. it maybe just a fuel filter?

Ayuh,... The canister filters are all 'bout the same, but the thread diameter, 'n pitch is different 'tween manufacturers,...

Can ya post a picture of yer's,..??

I donno if Merc was usin' a spin-on canister in '73,...

If so, 'n yer's is a Merc housin', they're All the same, 'n will spin right on,...

I'll move this to the Mercruiser forum for ya,...

thanks bondo, it looks to have a spin on. i can't get a pic as i have a tarp on the boat and will be working on it this weekend. i assume you just replace the element inside of cannister?

Naw, the whole canister,... like an oil filter,....

only insteada just tossin' it, inspect it's contents for water, 'n crud,...

thanks for the help bondo, great site you mods are running. plenty of info and knowledge! would you happen to know what the part number is to replace it. i just brought this boat and after looking at the color of the oil, i'm thinking nothing has been changed in a few yrs!

Yea, the mods here present and past, along with several others are pretty cool and helping us rookies save some money and make us smarter and wiser in our mechanical ventures.

Sounds like you may be needing to do a lot of maintenance to get your boat up-to-par so if you haven't visited this section http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser...tdrives/adults-only-no-exceptions-288430.html that Don put together, might want to do that. All kinds of great information, videos, diagrams.....
