using 25 micron separator with a 2004 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I had some fuel problems (WATER IN FUEL) . CAN I SWITCH TO A 10 MICRON OR WOULD THERE BE A PROBLEM WITH FUEL RESTRICTION. SOME MANAFACTURERS SAY NOT TO USE 10 MICRON BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBILTY OF RESTRICTING FUEL TO THE FUEL PUMP. ADVICE ON THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED. CARBS WERE MESSED UP BECAUSE OF THE FUEL PROBLEM, THOUGHT THE 10 MICRON MIGHT HELP TO REDUCE THAT

you should try to find out where the water is comming from.i could be wrong but a finer filter wont trap out any more water.i thought all yamaha filters were 10 micro

Re: water separator question

Get a Racor fuel/water separator with the clear plastic bowl and the pet-**** on the bottom for draining water whenever it is visible...I've known folks who one way or another got water in their fuel tanks(especially larger, built-in tanks) and the water was near impossible to completely eliminate from their system and it created on-going problems with carbs, injectors, screens, vapor separation tank, etc.....and the clear, drainable fuel/water separator offers an effective option...especially if you take a look at the filter often and drain that water as it appears.....good luck!

A little methyl hydrate in the tank never hurts either, just don't overdo it..... Sherm
