Pull the risers and manifolds and post pictures here of the mating surfaces.

I would definitely check your timing belt. It is very easy and is exactly the same as the automotive Volvo B21 engine. Google that engine on the web and you will find many articles talking about timing belts on it. Fortunately, that engine is not an interference engine so your valves won't hit the cylinders if your timing belt breaks or slips.

I would change the timing belt while you are at it.

thank you and god bless all us die heart boaters i just bought the new exhaust manifold and bolts water tube all tho the new starter is new and it won't work they charged me again . it should of been warranty that s life and another $798.00 gone . anyhow its pouring down rain i hope tomarrow is better. i plan is to put the starter in first and see how it turns over maybe everthing could be fine will see if it turn over good with out the plugs i put the new ones in and go from there . maybe it will fire right up . but before i do any of this i need to check the timing to make sure it did not jump and to see if all is right does any one know exactly how to check the cams,belt timing i looked in the manual the don gave as a down load put after readint it 5 times iam stupid and still unclear how or what needs to line up excactly how to do this right any help welcomed sincerely greg

please this is my plan as far as i know if anyone has more advice i need to hear it i do floors not motors i just trying to do what i know and i do not know crab but iam trying i guess iam caught in the lost and found dept thank you

I wouldn't spend a penny on parts until I pulled the head off to see what condition the cylinders, pistons, and rings are in. Salt water does not belong inside of an engine's combustion chambers. You could have some very serious damage. Any money you throw at this engine could be better spent to rebuild the top end or replace the engine.
