water spraying up

I've got a 1995 force 120 on a 1994 caravelle bowrider. As I tilt the motor up, after about 3 inches water is being pushed up between the motor and the transom. it pushes up all over the steering rod and fills up the well. When the tilt is up it stops. I've repositioned motor up and down. Has anyone ever encountered this problem with a replacement motor, if so-what is the solution the has to be one.

Welcome to iboats.

Sounds like the motor is mounted too low, or you are trimming the motor up before you are up on plane.

The anti ventilation plate on the lower unit, should be 1-2 inched above the bottom of the boat, and it should be just above the water when the boat is on plane.
