Re: water temp only 110 degrees

sebagolake19 - Did you ever figure out what was going on with your system? I have essentially the same problem with my '87 Four Winns 170 Candia, so it's the same year and maybe same problem... ?

I have pretty much the same questions about the closed coolant hoses below the thermostat because mine are warm at startup as well, but my gauge just sits on the far left side at ~100/110 like yours. I'm having trouble getting my instrument panel off (due to the steering wheel I think) to get at the back to try and ground the right terminals as well, but I thought I'd see if you had an update - if no progress yet, perhaps we can tackle this thing together and both save some headache.

Well I put a new sender in after testing the gauge / wire by grounding the sender wire to the engine. When I did this my temp gauge would tack all the way (meaning it was working and the wiring was good. I took the boat out but still had the same problem. I contacted Four Winns and they were able to find me a replacement temp gauge. I put that in and now it reads about 140 degrees. I gave up. Now I know that on my gauge 140 degrees is the normal temp. If it goes up higher than that I will turn the engine off and look for problems.
