water temp sender installation on '89 150 evinrude

I have a 1989 150XP evinrude and wantr to install a water temp gage. Where does teh sending unit install on the engine? The sender I have mounts in the water as opposed to mounting on the outside of the block. The directions reference removing a plug, but not sure which is a plug and which is a bolt! Thanks for any advice offered.

Welcome aboard!!<br /><br />The plug is on the 60 degree looper 150. On your crossflow it reads the temp on the outside of the water jacket on either head. We usually mount the sender to one of the jacket cover bolts near the middle of the cover.<br /><br />Good luck!

Thanks for the info Dhadley! Since my sending unit didn't come with a mounting bracket, I'll have to rig one up. At least now I know which direction to head!! I'll let you know how things turn out!<br /><br />Thanks again!!
