My water gauge quit registering temps. When I ground out the temp gauge wire at the sending unit the gauge tops out. I am told that means the sending unit is still bad.

I replaced the sending unit with one "supposedly the same" from auto zone.

Don't know if the one from AZ is the same as the marine, but it might be. The North American is 240 ohms to 33 ohms (cold to hot). Take the sender and place in a pan of water and heat it up while reading the meter with a thermometer. See if it comes out the same

Thanks, how hot/temp should the 4.3 get while idling?
