Well, I finally got my w/p in, water deflectors, and my head gaskets replaced. Many thanks to the fine folks here for giving me advise. The cylinders looked great, no carbon or scars.(Thanks to decarbing and seafoam ) Block looked ok, but had corrosion in the water passages. The covers on the heads were full of some kind of crap, it was hard like cement but turned to powder when I scraped it with a screwdriver. Dont have a clue what it was. W/P was good too, but there still was a little sand with it. No pieces of impeller missing, no cracks in it either. Only hold up was that dang shift rod. And when I cranked her up, I was getting a little too much water comming out of the lower end. So I took the lower unit off again and discovered that when putting the impeller on, the new cup turned in the new housing and it wouldnt seal right. Redid that and all's well. I'm ready for fishing season now. Sorry for the long post. Rudy.
