Be sure the water level in the container is above the water pump.

c/6
Hooty

Re: waterpump question

thanks for your replies everyone. the motor went for a 7.5 hr ride in the back of my yukon.so all of the water was out of the motor.it took about 30secs to get water spitting out of the telltale.if 30secs is to long how hard is it to change the impeller.
thanks again Z

Re: waterpump question

Zanman,
The waterpump is easy to replace. I agree, if it takes 30 seconds or so for water to start spitting you have a weak pump or possible blockage issue.. For the cost of a pump kit and a little time, you'll have peace of mind knowing it's not overheating. You may already have a problem. If the impeller that's in there now has lost one or more 'arms', and got pushed up into the powerhead, that could be the reason for a partial blockage. If it were my motor, I'd have it apart ASAP to find out what's happening. Keep us posted.

Re: waterpump question

Was that an actual timed 30-seconds or a gut-feeling. If it's slugging out a good gush in that 20-30 second range (but no longer), then I think you're alright...
- Scott
