i have a 1973 merc 7.5hp i just put another L/U on it with a new impeller i lined up the water tube with the guide tube and pushed the L/U into place and bolted it on. the gears all work fine but can't get water pump to pee i only let it run for about 10 seconds. how long should it take to pick up water i don't want to hurt anything? Thank You for any help! Mike

Could be a plugged up pee hole maybe?

i ran a piece of wire through it and it wasn't plugged guess i'll have to take it apart again. Thanks

Spray compressed air into the pee hole for several seconds while running, then wait a few more seconds to see if it starts pissing. Did it **** with the old leg? Maybe the water pipe didnt get lined up into the pump. Take it off again and put it on making sure the copper tube goes into te water pump.<br />Eric

forgot to put in forward when i removed L/U can put L/U in forward but don't know how to put motor in forward can't get L/U back on?

Oh by the way idid blow out all the lines but not while running trying to get this foot back on !!! Thanks for all the help

well i got the L/U back on and the gears are right. I took your advice Eric B and blew the lines out with compressed air while it was running and while it wasn't the air came out the prop is this right?? I think I got the copper tube into the water pump and yes the other L/U pissed any idea'swill be appeciated! Thanks Mike
