Hi all,
I'm just curious to know how often you wax your boat? I hear that two times a year is good. When waxing do you wax the bottom of the hull also? I heard from some that one should not wax the bottom of the hull. Thanks.

Wow... do a search on wax.

Waxing the bottom will lead to more drag (not that you will be able to tell) but it does.

A clean boat bottom is better. As for the topside I clean and wax mine once a season. I guess it depends on what part of the country your in.

I'd wax my boat, but I'd be afraid that the nice flat olive drab finish would be too shiny and scare the fish away. [grinning]

I wax the topside a couple of times a year. Usually while sitting on the lake drinking a few beers. I haven't ever waxed the underside of the hull.

I wax mine at least once every month top to bottom
as it is stored outside, she also gets washed and wiped down every time she comes out of the lake.

ken

"I wax mine at least once every month top to bottom"....wow, i hope it's not a big boat.

wax will wash off so once a month may not be too ridiculous, just alot of work.

i wax mine once a year at most but i'll spray 303 on the hull a couple of times. if i don't buff anything out, i'm not waxing. if i've taken care of the water spots and washed, then i'll 303. i'll go most of the summer just wiping down.

wax won't stay on the bottom long at all, i wouldn't bother with that.

That formula 303 is great stuff Salty!!! I used it all the time when I owned a blue boat. The blue always wanted to oxidize.Charlie

It cleans as it waxes, you can't get a wax buildup cause the second coat takes the first off. It's really easy to work with. You can apply to the entire boat and then wipe it off or even wait till the next day (If the dewpoint is high then it won't come off. Wait till the next day and buff it off.) It doesn't take any more effort than if you buffed it right away.

Craig
