I think that JB went way overboard with the cocaine thing.Yes there is that potential, but reading the article,it was not a risk in this case.As for one day detention....I would have seen it as bonus and I would have gone fishing...

I think this kid is more concerned about his chances for a Harvard or Yale education disappearing. Although to be honest, the Ivy league isn't what it used to be. You can get a better education elsewhere. Except if your field of study is law, then you'd want to be at Harvard.

Re: Way Overboard........

I had dinner with my three daughters today. They are all about 50, plus or minus a couple of years and two of them have or have had teen sons (6 among them).

They changed my mind.

The "rule" was the idea of the school dietician. She and the admin apparently verbalized the rule without putting it on paper or posting it.

When challenged with a threatened suit, the school board apologised and reinstated the boy to school government. End of story.

While there may have been some merit to the idea it was badly introduced and very badly administered.

So I humbly offer my apologies.

Well, that sure is a lot different than the article leads us to believe. Considering the facts, I, too, will agree with arboldt and the rest of you who said the school was out of line. Policies have to be developed and implemented in a procedural manor. Considering what JB posted last, they weren't and as such their punishment was indeed over the line...

Not to side-track the thread, but actually, Yale is considered to have a better post-grad law program than Harvard, with Harvard and Stanford(CA) close behind.

JB, I salute you Sir. It takes a strong man to offer an apology. Although in reality none was needed. You just stated an opinion and that opinion was changed.
