hi folks
in addition to the question of the impeller design on a 8 hp evinrude year 1980, i had the following:
after engine sitting for more than a year it started quickly. working it for a few minutes it did suck water and throw it out but not perfectly. but at the end it stopped throwing water! because of that i stopped it.
today, after opening it and finding a lot of dirt in the cooling system (near the impeller box) did some cleaning but when turning engine on (in neutral) for less than 90 seconds it did not throw any water outside and it heated rapidly! tried to see the hose that throws water it was clean. tried to see the part that is connected to the hose (that connects the hose to the engine block???) it was opened.
my question is, could that be a failure in impeller (i doubt it won't function at all after first trial did some work).
could it be that because it was turned on when there was alot of dirt it blocked some part?
could it be because i better have put it in gear and not neutral?
is there a way to check if the system is clear by some air pressure or so? or vaccum or something?without turning the engine on!
thanks in advance
