Some of the more unusual.

In 1961 I was transported in an Edsel Ambulance.

I crossed the Pacific as a child in a Pan Am Boeing Stratocruiser--an double deck airliner derived from a B-29. Stops in Honolulu and Wake along the way.

Turkish Steam Locomotive that got stalled on a mountain grade for 6 hours.

Burmese combination troop/passenger train that was so overloaded that you sat on top of the cargo and had to lean down to look out the window.

Too bad I missed the era of flying boats and airships...I would love to try them out.

Jinx

Re: Ways I have traveled.

As a kid I got to ride in the cab of a steam locomotive. It was hot and loud and very cool to blow the whistle  For speed thrills, flat bottom ski boats with lots of horsepower are hard to beat. I really enjoy the takeoff roll and climbout on any airplane. Best thrill landing was getting hit by lightning coming into Philadelphia in a really bad storm. Very fast motorcycles are a little scary now days so I leave them alone.

Re: Ways I have traveled.

I have driven almost any modern type of truck/bus you can think of, highlights were:

Military Humvee

Australian Road Train (180 ton triple trailer thing) They wouldn't let me drive :(

I have "driven" about 20 miles in the tiller seat of a Hook and Ladder truck. Delivered it new to a fire station. Pretty cool to have the tractor in one lane on the freeway and the trailer in another . . . :D

Speed thrill was a 150 MPH ride in a Ferrari F40. He wouldn't let me drive either . . . party pooper.

Does sliding down an avalanche chute on your face count?

Re: Ways I have traveled.

I’m not going to list all just this one. Bicycle on cable stretched between two buildings. Of course the rubber tires were not on the wheels and the cable was only two feet off the ground, but when your ten years old that was the height of adventure.

I might add that the most distance I made was about ten feet after about twenty tries. Seeing this done on TV was the inspiration for my futile attempts. Looked so easy and I did not even have people standing on my shoulders. Plus not twenty story’s in the air either. ;)

Spring can't be too far away now. I recall last year about this time. We were getting the same kind of posts. If you are in Norway, you must missing your boat. I know I'm missing mine and it's in the garage.
