Re: WD40? Is nothing sacred. . . . .

I went to the web site and entered a nastygram. Within hours a rep called me.

They removed the hydrocarbon propellant(he didn't specify, but I guess it was propane) because of too many unexpected combustions. They wont go back, but hope that we will continue to use WD-40 for its other 1000 uses, even with CO2 as the propellant.

I appreciate that they care enough to answer us. He didn't have any suggestions on what else to use for a starting fluid, other than premix.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

JB, You devil you. Everyone knows, nothing kills combustion quicker than CO2.

At least I think everyone knows that.

I guess it's time to make a cache of "pre-ban" WD-40. They should change the name to
WD-4Don't :D On second thought, I'll just add a gallon of bulk WD-40 to my BBQ propane tank before I have it filled. And get a REALLY LONG red straw!

LPS #2 works great too! It comes in all flavors. Lubricating, Greasless, Rust Inhibitor, & Cold Galvanize.

Those Green heads must be similar to our Horse Flies. Hurt almost as bad a wasp.

Ranger- They are a breed of the Horse fly only with a GRN head they are slow & dumb, easy to kill, bite like hell. I know of some people that went to the ER, from a reaction to them. They live in the salt marshes.

I wish I knew something about marketting.
I would can propane with a clean-burning lubricant, and lable it "12Footer's 2Cycle Engine Starting Fluid". I'd charge 4bukz a can for the concoction.
Then,I would become wealthy, and buy one-o-them 600Ft Scarabz with da twin 500 mercruisers, and tell tales in the boating forum about "how superior I am over the average man". (some of you guys will remember that clown we had on here with the speed-tank?) He thougt he was da bombe, because he knew how t tax shelter stuff..Big whoopty-doo.Well, I'd live next door to him,and drive him crazy, because his stinkpotter would never catch me.LOL.

Boy I'm glad I ran across this thread, I haven't had the need to use WD as starting fluid lately, but was prepared to. Saved me alot of heart ache. Keep up the good work.

grandy

Didn't Ronco make something like that! Or maybe that was the Bass-O-Matic I saw on SNL.

12 Footer,

Sorry buddy, it's already been done. Does anyone remember that knock off refrigerent (R12) that was going around?

It was propane with a lubricant added. The Fed's got wise to it when people cars started blowing up when they ran into things.

Don't have a comment on the WD-40, but the horse and deer flies we have will take a chunk of skin out you before you have time to swat.. I take that (and ticks) over scorpians and killer bees though..

Some of you guys sound like my Dad who happens to use a match to test his gasline connections.. Needless to say, I do my own.

Hello Mr. Schematic
You were right. I went back To Costco today and picked up 6 cans of the sacred EXTREMELY FLAMABLE stuff. If it works like the old stuff at least we'll be able to gloat for a while. They still have CASES of it. :D

I don't know.....can you explain this...I have this almost overwelming feeling to go back and get more.......JUST BECAUSE I CAN. In a few years we'll be looking at the cans and saying to ourselves "2002,,, What a fine year it was." :D
