I think both these skippers could benefit from a boating safety course.

Just curious how many people know which boat had right of way.

geez, what a couple a dumb skippers............

well jb, i say absolutley the boat off the starboard bow of the boat the pics are being takein has the right of way. the boat that the pic is generated off of should have gone behind.....that doesn't elevate the responsibility of the vessel that had right of way though. he didn't take any action nessesary to prevent a collision. so he's wrong too. but not as wrong as the boat the pics come from......

Neither. A boat (or a vehicle for that matter) may "assume" the right-of-way, but it is never "owned". A boat (or vehicle) must yield to avoid an accident.

Neither of them had the "right of way". Correctly stated the Boat that the video was taken from was the "Give Way" vessel and the other boat that seems to take the brunt of the accident was the "Stand On" Vessel meaning that he should technically maintain his course if it is safe. The boat that the video was taken from had the responsibility to safely pass behind the "Stand On" Vessel. My .02.

Just read in another forum that the boats were flying Egyptian flags of registry and were likely on the Red Sea. Apparently they have the same RoR's for their boats as they do their camels! ;-) Having spent some time there in the military he said it was common practice for skippers to set the autopilot and join their passengers for drinks on the aft deck. Wouldn't want to fall in the drink there, plenty of bull, hammerhead and tiger sharks!!!

Judging from all the commotion afterwords, it does not appear that they come from a culture of civility. If anyone was in the forward cabin, I'm sure they were hurting. Looks like a pure case of too much money and very few brains, regardless of who had the right of way.

You mean autopilot won't drive the boat for you?? They probably thought it did. Idiots.

Let ask , When you overtake another boat and want to pass him arent you suppose to go around him on the right and give a horn blast first?

I never understood how boats and planes run into each other. There is plenty of space to go around each other.

Obviosly someone wasnt paying attention, there is no other explanation.
