Funny thing is you really never know how bad it is until we get later news reports. This could've been the big one 200 miles north, but right now it felt kind of like a soft roller. Lasted about 5 seconds. I will guess a 5.0 epicenter say 32 miles away . . . Whatever  Just guessing for fun.

When they happen for those that haven't experienced them you can actually see the walls flex independently of the floor and the furniture. Pretty wierd.

Edit: That word up there was flex . . . not flew . . .

that's the beauty of living in new england..... the occasional blizzard... the occasional hurricaine...... but other than that there's never anything going on up here to worry about.

Re: We just had an Earthquake

We don't have them often. But, last year we had a good one that woke me out of a dead sleep. I had enough time to run through the house in a panic and it was still shaking. I live 2 miles from an airport and thought a plane crashed....lol.

You OK QC???

Down right BORING here. No tornadoes, no hurricanes, no earthquakes, no Tsunami's, no blizzards-nothing.

We get an occasional thunderstorm-Big deal. I pick up a couple palm fronds and I'm done with the clean up.;)

Earthqaukes would freak me out. I mean the ground is the ONE thing you expect to remain solid, even when everything else goes to pot.

All are fine, even the boats . . . :) Still watching the game. Funny thing, is they are actually kinda fun, at least that was what I thought until I had kids. They changed everything . . .

This is maybe better than the guy who predicted this . . . initial report is a 5.0, 35 miles away in San Bernardino . . . I'm heading to Vegas :D

Re: We just had an Earthquake

I lived in the Bay Area (SF) in the 70s. What I remember about the constant tremors that we had, was waking up in the morning trying to figure out if I had a dream about an earthquake, or if there really was one. The little ones are sometimes just strong enought to disturb your sleep without waking you up completely, hence the confusion.

For someone who was born on the Right Coast, and who had never lived west of the Mississippi before, this was truly a strange phenominon to get used to!

i was in school at the US Navy Hospital, San Diego, went thru several little ones. for a naive Florida boy if was something, to feel and see. the Navy/Marine Corps, showed me a lot, and made a man out of me. earthquales, rice paddies, and ocean crossing on ship. and the ugly side of some people coming home.

Re: We just had an Earthquake

A few years back we had a good one off the west coast of the island. It woke us up at about 3.00am shaking the bed. It made me think im not going to hang anything at the head of the bed. Plus we also invested in earthquake insurance.
