Re: We Made It "Gotta Read This" ( long but, good)

Although certainly a nostalgic post, seibel, I would disagree that we were better off not having seat-belts, child-proof medicine bottles, or lead paint abatement.

My kids are growing up as kids, although completely different than my childhood (dead-on as you described) and I expect them to succeed, be doers and thinkers, the same as generations before them. They may not, but the potential is still there for all children.

The sad irony in your post, is that it is those same children of the 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's, that made things as screwed up as they are today.

Our children will turn out fine if we do what it takes to help them do so.

Marty

Great post siebel Those days sure were fun. I wouldnt trade em for the world. We used to put on bike shows back at the old vacant we would lay on the ground in front of the ramp and jump over each other. Ride our bikes for miles on twisted turning two lane roads for miles with our fishin poles to get to the good spots. We played a game called kick the can at night. What a blast we had. Remember going into the small neighborhood mom and pop store and loading up on jawbreakers, sputnic gum and red hot dollars.Heck you used to get gum in a pack of baseball cards. Those were some fun times.

Yep!. Let's see!! When the knees on our blue jeans (they really were blue) got wore out, Mom iron'd on yet another patch! And the cuffs were turn'd up as we had to grow into 'em! Playing cards on the bike spokes? Going to the Hobo camps! Trains had cabooses then! I went back to my town about 15 years ago (after 20 years away) and view'd the back field behind our houses. Couldn't believe the TREES !! A cop drove by and ask'd me what I was doing? He must of thought I was casing the joint! I told him I was "revisiting" my childhood! I must admit, I got a little misty.
