Weak pee stream '77 35hp johnson

first off let me start by saying when i first got my engine I could have sworn the pee stream was strong. Well about a month ago something just didn't seem right so i changed the impeller and made sure it wasn't being blocked by anything. I put a nozzle in the tubing and it was a jet stream coming out the pee hole, so no blockage in the head or tube or anything. With new impeller the stream is still not very strong. It kind of drips out. It runs fine i use the boat multiple times a week and it runs good i just don't want to slowly burn up my engine. I've heard it could be the "poppit valve" or something like that, sound possible? Any other things it could be, or am i just freaking out? Is there anything else that would make a pee stream work, but just barely come out. Even at high RPM it doesn't pee very hard, more like a really fast drip. Thanks guys!!

PS. i know it's hard to see but i put a video of the engine running the other ady on the water...focur on the pee stream area you can see it just barely dripping. sorry for crappy quality it's from cell phone

service or replace thermostat. It almost looks like steam coming out the exhaust which indicates overheat.

this is what it looked like when i pulled out water jacket cover off to check thermostat...the t-stat opened up in the boiling water...what is all that light brown flakey stuff?

the brown stuff is water deposits. was there any deposits restricting the thermostat in behind?

i didn't see anything...there was some deposits but it didn't look any worse than what you see. There was also some black oil on the lower unit and some other spots...just didn't look right either. I have pretty much threw in the towel and gonna take it to my mechanic once the gaskets and new t-stat get here. I'd rather just have him look it over maybe he'll find something else I need fixed.
