Weak telltale?

I have a 2004 yamaha 25hp 4 stroke. I have noticed lately that the stream out of the telltale just doesnt seem to gush out like it use to. It use to shoot out of the telltale and hit the water in a straight line. Now the stream has more of a curve to it and definately doesnt have the pressure it once did. What should I be looking at here?

My next problem I will try and explain the best I can.

When I hook up the hose to the flush port without the motor running I get strong water flow out of the telltale. But a little ways down about 2 feet below the motor there are two openings that water comes out of. Well water use to come out of both openings like normal, but now water only comes out of the bottom opening and only trickles through the top one. Is this anything to worry about?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

You may have picked up something along the way, and it is lodged in the pick-up tube. Or the t-stats are gunked up, take out the t-stat and flush water down to see if you picked up something. The only other thing would be the impeller. Good luck

Re: Weak telltale?

Thanks for the help.

My local yamaha dealer had no more manuals in stock so I had or order one.

I was going to check the thermostat but have no idea where it is.

Can anyone tell where it might be located?

The impeller's vanes probably have taken a set.I just replaced the impeller on my 1999 75 and while the old impeller , whose vanes had taken a set , was cooling the motor adequately , I could see a noticeably stronger flow.
Besides having a set , the 9 year old impeller was in great shape. But there's no way to tell when the hub will spin out on you.
The motor pees like a racehorse now.:D
