My '88 75 horse Mariner sprays water from the pee hole instead of a definite stream. The spray is steady and the motor runs great. Do I need a new impeller or could it be something else? Please help.

It could be anything from a worn impeller to a piece of trash in the lines. If you haven't changed your impeller in awhile, I'd suggest starting there. While you have it apart, you can blow some air through the pick-up tube and check and see if your pick-ups on the housing are clogged. Its not much cost to do it all and its much cheaper than an over-heated motor.

Im pretty sure the impeller is in good shape it is fairly new. If the water gasket is bad could that cause a problem.

I will change out the impeller this week. Is it possible to install a temperature guage, are they expensive and are they easy to install?
