OK it's August and hot as blazes just about everywhere. I found a few mid-winter shots taken 2 years ago here in Maryland.
I'm sure some of you guys "up north" can share some positively FREEZING pictures.
Let's go! I'll start. My Silverton's on the right....

I would post a Winter pic, but it looks like all my Summer pics so I guess there's no point.

Here's my garage at my cabin in upstate NY - my boat is in there somewhere.

There's the boat in the back. In the winter the sleds are in the front, in the summer the boat gets the front row.

You gotta use a hosting site like photobucket (which is free). Makes it a no-brainer.

here in the banana belt we don't tolerate cold weather to good.;)
but the real question is here in northern indiana we haven't had a heat wave yet. in fact we have been below average in temps. So can you send us some of the heat your complaining about?

These were from last December after a foot or two of snow on top of several inches of ice.

WOW!
And that, my friends, is the downside to wintertime shed storage.
How many boats were damaged? Any sinkings?

I don't know the exact number of boats that were damaged, but it was in the hundreds. Several dozen sunk. Not only the commercial docks, as shown, were damaged, but many private docks were damaged as well. Some marinas lost all of their docks and some had no damage. The dock builders are still replacing docks and most marinas no longer have liability coverage for collapsing docks.

My little POS 16'x 32' dock fared rather well as it just gently settled down 6" and came back up as that stuff melted.

Here at Lake of the Ozarks just about everyone has a private dock and the many marina slips all have boat lifts. So we just leave them on the lift during winter. Makes those winter cruises easier when mother nature raises the temperature to a tolerable level.

In the 40 years that we have owned property, this was only the second such storm.

Wait a minute. For all that damage, there's still open water. In winter, you're supposed to be able to follow the county snow plow across the lake as it defines the temporary "roads".:p

Yea, we have four discrete seasons unlike your two; construction and winter. :D

The lake is over 52,000 acres and in 40 years has frozen over only once. We can get ice cover in the coves, but just thick enough for the the seagulls to land on. Sorry, no ice fishing.

Across from us is a public access and the bass boats turn into ice breakers to cut their channel to get to the main channel. One reason to have an OB. No real winterization in case it gets warm enough for a cruise.

We had snow in 1989? But I did not have a boat. In fact, I was in highschool. Florida misses out on winter, but boating season is all year.

Re: Weather too hot? Post your winter pictures!

Here is why we winterize our boats up here in our Nation's Capital, Ottawa, Ontario. We missed the total snowfall record this season by about 6 inches. Total snowfall for the winter was around 14 feet.

These pics are from March 2008. The lamp post on the lawn (er, in the snow) is almost 7 ft tall for comparison.

I'm surprised we even found our boats come spring.
