Spent 90 bucks on a Ryobi bout 5-6 years ago, and the only maintainance has been a garden hose to clean it off.....

Started on the second pull after 6 months in the garage... Thats good enough for me.. :D

Just bought a TroyBuilt 4cycle last fall. Easy starting, no mixing fuel, a little heavier, excellent torque, and uses attachments. I did get the blower also, it works pretty good too. Its not as loud as the 2 stroke either. I like it! :D

I've ran my Homelite for years. Cheap and still runs good. I run 50:1 oil/gas mix.

Although a goat is best. They take care of things for you... and some things you don't want trimmed... wires on boat trailer for example... BAD goat... BAD!

H.

Best weedeater for longevity and proven design that is used by all of the commercial pros in my area is a no brainer.

ECHO. Home depot carries a decent entry level affordable model.I've had a 21.2 cc model for 5 years of hard duty south texas weeds and lawn edging and it still runs strong. It will outlive three of the weedeater brand weedeaters that I had before and still counting.I've replaced one part since I've had it.The primer cup.Every other part including the sparkplug is the original.

if my 2stk ryobi ever wears out (7yrs old) i'll probably buy a 4stk ryobi. i've got many attchmts for it, and likem :D

and its the best leaf blower i've ever used. i just keep stabil in gasmix all year, same plug, cleaned air filter once and replaced nozzle on blower. it has the dual strings + refill from outside spool in a snap.

Pulled an old Homelite out of a trash can nine years ago. Man, I'm cheap! :D This is a weird one with the powerhead at the base instead of on top.

Filled the engine and carb with Sea Foam and let it sit for a month. Changed the spark plug and air filter. Filled it with pre mix, pulled the cord and VIOLA! A $4.50 weed whacker. Never done anything to it since then except replace the string.

Homelite is now owned by RYOBI and their product support is b**** awful.
My buddy was the Homelite distributor for New Zealand for many years and you should hear him go on about the problems they have now that it has changed from Textron.
Good product though, just support lets them down. BTW I have a Homelite WW that our Rental divn used to have for hire but the customers kept wrecking them. My advantage now as it always goes when needed. Quite happy with it.

Peter

The best one is any one that you can make your kid use to cut the weeds. Failing that [and I did], I've had a Ryobi for five years that has been a good one. Will buy another Ryobi when the time comes. Roundup works good too when you get tired of cutting them, Crabby

I have 2 Ryobi's and swear by them.
The first one I got as a gift in 1993 and all I have done to it is replaced the clutch(spring broke) I use it year around because I have several attachements for it. I own 3 acres and also mow a storage facility. These weedeaters have been through it and are still great. You cant go wrong.
