Re: Week 1 of the NFL

...Around here, we have two names for our team - they are the Saints when they win and the Ain'ts when they don't... ???

Us too, lol...'Li-downs' when they're playin, & 'Lines'{as in BS} when we hear upper management start blabbin about how we're on our way now....

And our poor quarterbacks take the heat, Geez, everyone knows the family jewels are not safe without some sort of up front protection. Maybe I'm just getting old and not up to date on these new fangled coaching philosophies...but come-on, my wife protects the checkbook with more gusto....And just because today was so nice, I'll say 3 - 13 for the season.

Yup, Drew Brees is the real deal. He is a very solid quarterback in terms of plays and is a great leader. He is also well liked in New Orleans as a citizen.

The Saints are a funny team - we just never seem to be able to put a solid team on both sides of the ball together at the same time. We used to have a very strong D, now we have Brees and the Offense, but have problem on Defense.

Back in the 90s, much of our strength was misleading, because Morton Anderson used to put a ton of points on the board, a few at a time. Also, when he and Bobby Hebert went to Atlanta, it seemed like a lot of momentum went with them.

All of this said, if New Orleans ever manages to even get in the Superbowl, never mind win it, there will be pandamonium all over town! There will be more booze flowing on Bourbon St. than there will be water in the Mississippi!

Packers fan here. I feel bad for the Bengals fans. That team just has no luck at all. I'll see a few Bengals fans at this Sunday's game, hope they aren't wearing bags on their heads yet! Nothing can be as hard as being a Lions fan though. I couldn't imagine. The Packers had some rough decades, but nothing like what the Lions experienced under the brilliant leadership of Matt Millen.
