weight difference between 4.3 mercruiser I/O and 90's johnson 235 OB???

I have access to a well running 235 johnson outboard, and the future if ny current engine is in question. I'm not concerned about the fabrication required at the transom, but i was curious about the weight issue. anybody have any rough weights?

Welcome!!<br /><br />Lets verify what youre looking at. There wasn't a 235 in the 90's. The last 235 was 1985. Now there are some 225's in the late 80's and all through the 90's. But none the less, whichever outboard youre looking at will weigh way less than the I/O. <br /><br />To get specific weights on the outboard we'll need the model number.<br /><br />BTW -- if it is indeed a 235 (crossflow) it cant hold a candle to a 200/225 looper.
