Im looking for a link/knowledge of the difference between a 60 HP weight..and say a 70 and a 90 johnson. Im looking to repower my tracker boat, its rated for a 60hp but i want something more like a 70, or a 90 if the weight isnt much more.

Re: Weight differences?

The 60 and 70(about 240) should be within a handful of pounds of each other and the 90 weighs MORE by about 60+ pounds (about 302).

Overpowering is a very bad idea for several reasons.

The 70 weighs essentially the same as the 3 cylinder 60 but won't give you any noticable jump in thrust.

The 90 is too heavy and makes too much torque. You would get a lousy handling, dangerous boat.

Please give the guys who designed and built the boat some credit for knowing what they are doing.
