I'm looking at buying a 1995 Evinrude 15hp short shaft, pull start motor. Does anyone know how much one of these would weigh?

Thanks guys, sounds like it would only be 10lbs heavier than my Merc 9.9 and my back could probably take it. With an inflatable I have to get it out of my van and onto the boat every time, so I haven't been shopping for 4 strokes.

a omce 9.9 weighs the same as the 15!!!...dont know why anyone would go with the 9.9 over the 15 unless they had HP limits on their body of water. still at 75lbs...its not fun lugging that motor around..

I put one in my duck boat each trip..I carry it along and dont pre mount it...picking it up and over the gunnel( chest high) and out into the boat and down onto the floor is not fun!!!

The official weight is 77 lbs for a rope start only, short shaft 9.9 or 15 HP.

The weight goes up once you add electric start (+5 lbs) and different shaft lengths.

I have a 9.9 as well. I agree Bob, not the easiest motor to move around. Both of my 6 HP engine are more managable (55 and 60 lbs, ones a long shaft).
