I know the weight of my 1957 7.5 is 59lbs.
I could swear the 1980 4.5 weighs about the same!

I'm putting one of them on a 12ft jon, and weight is a consideration. Could anyone who has the specs tell me the weight of the 1980 4.5?

Thanks so much-
Brian

Re: Weight of 1980 Johnson 4.5

Thanks once again, Paul. I thought they felt near the same! I'm hopefully going to drop the old 7.5 on my 12ft jon this weekend. The 4.5 will plane the boat, but it just feels like I'm "missing" something that the 7.5 should give me.

But how does NADA arrive at those values?
Geesh... the '80 4.5 is $60 low retail, $70 average retail?

Brian

I think they make up the prices there. They're always *very* low for old outboards. Ebay gives you a better idea generally, and the local classifieds in the paper give you the best idea. Here that would probably get $400-$600 running...

I paid US$280 for mine.

OK, that does it. I'm packing up a U-haul with as many used boat motors as it'll hold, and will be arriving in Nova Scotia in a few days. Tell all your friends.
:)

Brian
