Nah. Grab a chunk of alum, shape it some, spread on some 5200, rivet in place. All set;)

Sounds like a plan, thanks. HEY! Midland - I'll be up there for a wedding Labor Day weekend.

Well, this welder wasn't afraid - he hit it out of the park!

These pictures I just bought the boat:

These pictures I have the boat prepped for welding:

These pictures are tonight - I think the welder did an amazing job!
I rebucked the rivets, cleaned up the inside, wiped it down with acetone, blew it dry with air compressor, then applied first coat of Gluvit.

I'm excited!

The links to your pics don't work, they want me to sign into google instead of showing the pic.

HE!! YA!!! excellent weld job, now hopefully the heat affected zone is not thin and prone to cracking. With the gluvit you should be sealed up and on your way to some fishing. Nice!

That is strange, all three links work fine when I sign out of Google and then click them.

Pics worked fine for me...

Looks good man... Did he do anything on the rest of your boat with the stress cracks??

I'd keep that guys number handy for other projects down the road!!!!

Yup, he zipped up everything we found. I'm definitely going to him for all my future welding needs!

I might want the name of that welder, my Lone Star has similar wear and two welders have declined to fix it.

Looking good, and a good deal.

There are alot of welders that don't know how to weld contaminated aluminum so they will not try. The welder you used did an excellent job of welding your hull. It should last a long time.
