it wasent as bad as first thought it was going to be. the floors are soild can jump up and down and stomp and see no movment. the interior is trashed and falling apart the side compantments are rotted they were just regular plywood coverd in carpet, the bottom 1-2 inches of the transom has a dull thud but the rest of the transom seems fine, i think fixing up the intiorior this year and the transom should be able to make it another season and it needs new steering controls as they are sized.

Neat looking boat. I'm surprised the windshield is so clear on an older boat, is it glass?

the bottom 1-2 inches of the transom has a dull thud

Take a 1/4" drill and drill into the transom right near the bottom. If its in good condition, the wood shavings will be light and dry, then just fill the holes with epoxy. If the wood comes out dark, crumbly and wet, its rotting. If water comes out, its rotting.

I would rip out the carpet from the deck and take a 2" hole saw and make a few holes to see what is really going on below the floor. If its solid, just epoxy the cores back in. If its wet foam, then you know the stringers are most likely rotting.

Check it out well before investing any more money. If you are going to keep it, make a list of everything that needs replacement or repair, the parts, the price and the web sites you will order from. A good plan can save you a bit in shipping costs by consolidating orders.

The trailer looks ancient, and will probably need work. Might even be cheaper to look for a another trailer than fix this one up, but you will have to price it out. Tires, bearings, winch, lights, etc.

Should make a nice project. Going to look great on the water. Sorry I have no idea what make it is. Check out the photo/manufacturers gallery at fiberglassics.com. You may find photos of it there.

Re: well i bought the boat

the windshild is acual glass probably the original one im sure if i ever break it i will never find a replacement. the trailer is in pretty rough shape tires are not the same size and dry rotted. the trailer uses a coil spring suspension with shock absorbers somthing iv never seen on a boat trailer before the tongue has been extended using some redneck engineering but seems solid other then some surface rust. will probably replace the tires bearing and shock absorbers and repaint the trailer, it tows nicely as is surprisingly enough. if i stick my finger in the drain plug i can feel the wood is wet but cant break it apart. i do get a dull thud from the transom with a hammer on the very most section so i know a transom replacement will be in the future. however the rest of it seems solid. i will try drilling some holes to check the rest of it. im hoping seems how its only the bottom 1- 1 1/2 inches around the drain plug that gets a dull thud hopfully it will last threw next seson so i can concentrate on the interior this winter, and go threw the motor. i will check the stringers as sugested and if they are bad i guess ill just have to bite the bullet.

Re: well i bought the boat

pre 72 may not have a hin..........my trisonic don't have a hin. it's a 72.......
if ya have one it'd be on the starboard transom somewhere. or my 75 has it in the outside center, above the drive, molded into the glass......
seems like with the reg. number ya ought to be able to trace it at least to the previous owner. maybe they'd know what it is....
just a thought for ya. my trisonic had a real solid floor.....it'd been replaced, but the stringers hadn't been. a few drill holes confirmed that with wet mush coming off the drill bit.........

i have no idea what kinda boat that is. cool lookin one though. hope ya have fun with it......
