After talking to a marine machanic, we decided to remove the VRO pump on my 84' Evinrude 90 horse, we did not use the old pump or disconnect the wiring and plug the oil hose. We put on a new fuel pump only (not a VRO pump) He talking me into it after telling me the old VRO pump, altho working just fine, was a burnt up powerhead waiting to happen, especially after finding out the alarm was not working
We are finding the engine runs fine on the muffs, but seems to run a little rougher and then dies when put in gear while in the tank or in the water (more back pressure when in the water???) do you think the carbs need a rebuild? I does seem to run a bit better after a good warm up period.
