Sorry but I have been on the water enjoying the carp out of my boat. We had been taking two vehicles to the lake so I purchased a 3rd vehicle ford exploder to pull the boat with. So everyone in the family gets in on the action without driving multiple vehicles.

I might be off of the water for a while though Saturday we had both boats on the water. We all met at the lake about an hour from my house. I towed the little boat to the slip and launched there.

On the way home guy in an F250 ran a stop sign. Banged the crap out of my Explorer I had it less than 7 days (luckily it was an $1100 tow vehicle) and had it not been for that we would have been in two cars and would have been MUCH worse off.

Anyways it knocked my boat sideways on the trailer. Bent up my bow eye, destroyed my winch, crushed the front bow roller. Destroyed step on the trailer and fender and knicked a tire.

The explorer popped an air shock bent the bumper and sustained some body damage.

The good news is no one was hurt. Towing the trailer is what kept the explorer from flipping.

The motor never budged the transom is not cracked. The season may not be over but my trailer is sure done.

Glad nobody was hurt. Could have been much worse.

I hope you had the wisdom and foresight to insure everything, SS.

Glad no bodies damaged. :)

I had liability and uninsured motorist on everything. The tow rig was a 1996 explorer bought for $1100.00 not worth full coverage, the boat was a 1972 trihull also $1200 also not worth full coverage. I am not worried about the body damage on the truck $1100 kinda sucks about the trailer may just take a sledge hammer to the trailer.

Wait a minute.. to hell with YOUR insurance.. he ran a stop sign... you are in the clear, he/his ins. will cover everything... if he's uninsured, well, sue.

Don't matter if you have any insurance, he was in the wrong, so his insurance should pay to replace or repair it all...

Depends on the state. In Michigan where I live, it is no-fault insurance. His insurance would NOT pay. The only way another insurance company will pay is if you are legally parked.

True, but if you had collision insurance I'm pretty sure you're insurer would go after his insurer to make them whole for any payout to you. As you note, it's all irrelevant since you had liability only (which I agree made sense.)

I think you are misunderstanding "no-fault" coverage - are you really suggesting that if someone runs into you in MI that they have no liability if you are not parked??????

Glad you and everyone involved are OK. Sorry to hear about the damage to your property, though. Hopefully, you won't need to involve an attorney. His insurance company is liable for your damages. Good luck.
