:D1983 470mercruiser new fuel pump new starter new tune up plug wire plugs cap rotor point the last thing i need is a new carburater. one coming rebuild might just do the job. i got juice, cranking fuel but i think it flooding my engine if it dont work time to call a boat mechanic, anyone with suggestion please reply help

Well, apart from using some punctuation, how is the compression?, the timing? Are you getting spark? are the plugs the right ones and gapped correctly, what about points gap?

well when i get the new carburater i will check the compression. point are adjusted wright,yes i got spark to my plugs. ok im not a writer but how is my punctuation now. that the only thing i need new is a carburater.

You should probably check your compression, check your timing and dwell, check your fuel filters before you go buying a carb on a whim... but hey, 1/2 my business comes from people who throw megabucks in parts into their boats and don't do any diagnosing.

Did it run well before the work? If yes start rechecking. It's always something stupid. Like crossed wires, kill switch, fuel supply, neutral safety switch...

shift cable adjustment

shift cable adjustment

just received my rebuild carb ready to install but while im there i will check compression. do any one know how to adjust the shift cable. i have a 1983 mercruiser stingray with a 470 motor 4 cylinder. any one have a site i could go or information.

Download the Merc service manual/s for your engine and drive in the Adults Only thread in this forum....
